Read AlongA spice heavy novel from Kennedy Ryan exploring the complexities of a serious, and undiagnosed, mental illness. This love story was heart-wrenching and strong and probably one of my favorites from Kennedy Ryan. You must read!

The Lake Club
A-The Lake Club
Read AlongMy first official beach read of the season and I loved it! A story with second-chances, scandals, decades of secrets and people with too much money to know what to do with it. I felt for the FMC the entire story because her fall from New Yrok grace was soley blamed on her and not the other adults involved (no surprise there)! However, the ending was actually light and joyful compared to the secrets revealed. Perfect for the beach!

Everyone Is Lying to You
AEveryone Is Lying to You
Read AlongI’m about a year late to the hype spring this book and I actually see the hype! The story shows a behind the scenses divider view of the #TradWife movement and the manufacturing that happens to make it look picture perfect. Although I don’t chat a habit of following anyone in this space, several creators came to mind when I was reading. A solid thriller in the #TradWife space (and the first of many I see coming soon)

Missed Connections
A-Missed Connections
Read AlongI love any magical realism novel with a dose of “what it” so this was perfect for me! The main character is given the chance to revisit the decisions that she coulda, shoulda, woulda made and what her reality would be if she did. This type of storytelling is always so reaffirming that we are exactly where we need to be and every small decisions has led us here – the good, the bad and the indifferent. It’s also a reminder that one decision can change your entire life and you can make that life-changing decision today!

Anatomy of an Alibi
B+Anatomy of an Alibi
Read AlongAshley is one of my favorite authors for a fast-paced thriller filled with twists and turns. I loved the premise and the ending was full circle in a way that I wouldn’t have seen coming. A really great cozy weekend or beach read to get you out of your reading rut!

Kin
A-Kin
Read AlongThere’s good reason why this story is still everywhere months after publishing – it is amazing! A truly heartbreaking and beautiful story of two girls who call themselves “cradle sisters” and the way their journeys are shaped by not having their mothers in their lives. My only criticism, that you’ve probably heard from others, is the ending kind drops you off in the middle of nowhere. I found myself so sad at the ending because the story was incredibly strong then the ending was albeit disappointing and cut short.

Where the Wildflowers Grow
A+Where the Wildflowers Grow
Read AlongAnother 10/10 by the amazing Terah Shelton Harris. I cried several times through this book because it is an emotional journey from first meeting the main character to the full circle ending. The love story woven in was so darling because we see how much it takes some people to love others and to properly receive the love they need. Beautiful story all around!

The Wrong House
AThe Wrong House
Read AlongAfter reading Best Offer Wins, I was clearly on a thriller house kick and omg – this story is insane. I believe this is the first time I’ve read anything by this author and she is amazing! I would have never guessed any of the plot twists, especially the ending. This story truly makes me question how far people are willing to get what they want, especially in this real estate market.

Other People’s Marriages
C+Other People’s Marriages
Read AlongA story of two imperfect families trying to build a relationship on jealousy, uneven playing fields and children who don’t get along. I really enjoyed this book to until I felt like the parents were pushing for relationship that didn’t make sense and unfortunately ended in violence. Overall a solid 3 star book!

Best Offer Wins
ABest Offer Wins
Read AlongInsane ending, confusing epilogue.
Loved this book so much, especially when it was uncomfortable. Truly leaned into the lines people are willing to cross to get what they want.
About midway though i started thinking when is enough, enough? How nice of car? How big of house? How perfect-looking marriage? Absolutely examining my thoughts of “more”

Audre & Bash Are Just Friends
A+Audre & Bash Are Just Friends
Read AlongThe most adorable YA following the very beloved Audre from a previous Tia Williams novel. Right now, I’m all in on young adult romances and love how Tia writes young love. Vulnerable, a little reckless, a bit confusing and completely all-consuming.

The Queen of Wishful Thinking
B+The Queen of Wishful Thinking
Read AlongSuch a cute light mystery with a side of romance and a dose of the joy of second chances! I love the title and the overall joyful experience to keep wishfully thinking about what good could be around the corner.

The Gilded Ones
BThe Gilded Ones
Read AlongOne of my first fantasy novels in a while and I loved the strong female characters. I didn’t see *that* twist and love how at the end the main character was able to harness her power. And I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Broken Country
A+Broken Country
Read AlongThis is one book that was hyped up for all the right reasons. Some of the plot twists where predictable but honestly, every twist and turn was amazingly well-written and the ending made my jaw D R O P. I’m still thinking about this story almost a year later because the characters are living with me. A true reminder of what happens when we don’t follow our hearts.

Other People’s Houses
A-Other People’s Houses
Read AlongFriends, it’s no surprise that I loved a messy, everyone’s-got-secrets, light thriller with posh accents and rich people behaving badly. This UK mystery was the perfect reminder that the grass isn’t always greener and people are willing to do worst things than you thought to keep up appearances. Perfect for a cozy weekend in!

The Mysterious Death of Junetta Plum
A-The Mysterious Death of Junetta Plum
Read AlongThis was the perfect cozy mystery to kick off a wonderful year of reading on the horizon. Very short and sweet story about a mysterious letter that connects “family” and ends with a familial introduction and murder – on the same day. The ending leaves you wanting a sequel where Harriet is a full-time private investigator getting justice for all the people on the margins.

Once Upon a Time in Dollywood
BOnce Upon a Time in Dollywood
Read AlongThis was one of my favorite author conversations ever. I loved getting to chat with Ashley and learn more about her journey as a debut author on Reese’s Book Club. This story pulled at the heart strings and showed the layers of grief, complicated family dynamics, choosing yourself, blending families and what anxiety and depression can look like in all types of people. The romance was secondary, for me, but the love story was such a sweet slow burn. Would absolutely recommend!

Secrets Like Ours
A-Secrets Like Ours
Read AlongI am a true thriller/mystery lover and feel like I have read every “trope” out there but this was the first book in a long time that truly left me shocked. Whatever I thought was going to happen, never happened and what did happen, was completely unexpected. The perfect book to end the year!

The Dark Maestro
B+The Dark Maestro
Read AlongA powerful second Brendan Slocumb for me! In true Brendan fashion, I loved the music tie in. I felt myself disliking every character at some point or another which caused tension between wanting to DNF and needing to know what happened. The ending (maybe even the entire book with the crazy storylines and layers of crime) was truly gave me all the S.A. Cosby feels and redeemed almost every character. I do wish there was a follow-up book to know what happened after the first Dark Maestro concert!

A-The Happiness Collector
Read AlongA really fun read that restored a bit of hope in how we celebrate and appreciate joy even in the most uncertain times. Loved listen via audio!
